Beavers is for boys
and girls, who are aged between 6 & 8.
The emphasis for Beaver Scouts is on
having fun, so a meeting involves playing games, and some sort
of activity – such as painting, cooking or acting. Beaver Scouts
are also taught about the basics of Scouting, all whilst making
new friends.
During the summer, we try to spend
time outside. Rounders on the beach is popular and we also have
an 'I Spy' walk which is another good evening.
We have invited 14th Lowestoft Beavers
to spend an evening with us to get to know other Colony's in the
district.
We take part in District events and in
a couple of weeks are going to a national Beaver 'Fun Day' at
Gilwell Park (The headquarters for Scouting in Britain).
We also plan to go to the Transport
Museum for the final night of this term.
When we are forced to be at HQ we do
lots of crafts and badge work. We mark all the main festivals
through out the year. Some religious i.e. Easter and some not
i.e. Halloween.
We have had visits from Alex (Scout
helper) who has run cooking evenings and Tom (Scout helper) who
has done Air Activities. We always go to the Pantomime at
Christmas, and an outing that we usually do at some point for
the Beavers to enjoy is a visit to Norwich Castle on the train
for a day.
Our Colony meets between 6.30 - 7.30 on a
Wednesday evening.
Pictures to follow!
